Survey Updates
In 2025, the Youth Survey was revised to improve its relevance, clarity, and usefulness for understanding youth wellbeing in Fairfax County. Some less critical or outdated questions were removed or revised, and new questions were added on mental health, social media, risky behaviors, nutrition, and protective factors.
Data from previous years remain available on this website. However, because of these changes, many results from 2025 and later should not be directly compared with data from 2024 and earlier. Questions that did not change in 2025 remain comparable over time. For details on specific data changes, see the annotations on the tables in the 2025 report.
6th Grade Survey
The Fairfax County Youth Survey is administered in two forms: one for 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students, and a modified, shorter version of the survey for 6th grade students. Changes to the 6th grade version were also introduced in 2025.
You can access the 6th grade data by selecting '6th grade' in the Dataset option at the top of Survey Highlights, Explore the Data, Trends over Time, or Three to Succeed.
